ew things are more thrilling to a boy than overnighting aboard a real battleship in bunks where real sailors slept. That’s what we’re offering as part of our Mobile, Alabama Tour that kicks off with the whole family touring the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park on May 2.

Join Landmark Events Historian Bill Potter in Mobile, Alabama as we spend 24 hours surveying two of the most historic sites in this southern seaport. Wednesday we will spend the day exploring the storied battleship USS Alabama, along with the oldest American submarine on public display, the USS Drum. There’s a hangar full of vintage aircraft and acres of artillery and tanks to peruse within the battlefield park.

All family members can stay aboard for a pizza dinner and a talk by Mr. Potter on WWII and then fathers and sons can spend the night in the original bunks aboard the Battleship Alabama.

Thursday morning, we will learn of local notables like Confederate General Braxton Bragg, and Apache Indian Chappo Geronimo, son of the Chief Geronimo, as we visit Magnolia Cemetery in downtown Mobile, wrapping up by noon.
