The Story of Texas is the Story of Bold Men
After losing his bid for reelection as a state representative, Tennessean Davey Crockett bid his native state goodbye with something to the effect of “You may all go fly a kite... and I will go to Texas”.
And go he did, leaving his mark across the Lone Star State, with the final heroic stroke of giving his life, along with such notables as Jim Bowie, William Barrett Travis and Juan Seguin, defending the Alamo from the Mexican Army of General Antonio López de Santa Anna. Crockett’s story is just one of many remarkable accounts our guides Bill Potter and Wesley Strackbein will unfold on our Road to Republic Tour next month.

Moses and Stephen Austin Father and Son Pioneers
Almost 200 years ago, Moses Austin was granted permission by the Spanish government to settle 300 families in what was then a province in northern Mexico.
Moses died shortly after and his 27-year-old son, Stephen Austin, took up the mantle and pressed on with his father’s grand plan. It’s an amazing story of faithfulness, perseverance and adventure.
From these humble beginnings, burgeoning communities have flourished in the area, including two of the most populous cities in our nation, San Antonio and Austin.
