hen I was a young boy growing up in Colorado, my impression of American Indians was shaped by two popular after school television shows: The Lone Ranger and F Troop. I would have been better off completely ignorant. Thankfully, there were men and materials that revealed a more accurate understanding of Native Americans, both the people and their history.

Join a small group of like-minded brothers and sisters as we travel throughout South Dakota enjoying the enchanting beauty and captivating history of this unique area. Col. John Eidsmoe grew up nearby and his Lakota Souix cousins usually stop in for an evening of fellowship, providing us with a valuable understanding of how things really work on and off the reservation. We will cover a lot of ground and see some iconic sights, including Mt. Rushmore, the Crazy Horse Memorial and the annual Custer State Park buffalo roundup where over 1,500 buffalo are herded into pens by cowboys on horseback.
