Plymouth to Williamsburg:
Reaffirming America’s Founding Truths

On August 2, 1776, the delegates to the Continental Congress began affixing their names to the Declaration of Independence—pledging their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to principles rooted in “the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God.”

This Sunday, August 2, the Plymouth Rock Foundation will commemorate the 250th anniversary of that historic signing with Declaration 250, a special event originating in Plymouth and joined online by thousands across the nation. Beginning at 6:00pm Eastern, the program will examine the Declaration’s biblical foundations, honor its signers, and invite Americans to reaffirm its enduring truths.

Two of the featured participants will also be joining us October 13–17 for Landmark Events’ Colonial USA 250 Symposium in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Dr. Paul Jehle—whom we consider the nation’s foremost authority on the Pilgrims—and constitutional attorney Col. John Eidsmoe will bring decades of scholarship, teaching, and faithful Christian character to Williamsburg. Col. Eidsmoe, chairman of the Plymouth Rock Foundation and a frequent guide on Landmark tours, will address the Declaration’s foundation in “the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God” during Sunday’s program. Dr. Jehle will help lead the national commemoration from Plymouth.

Their teaching will trace the clear line from Plymouth to Philadelphia—from the Pilgrims’ covenantal understanding of ordered liberty to the Declaration’s affirmation of God-given rights. At our October Symposium, they will join Dr. Bill Potter and other distinguished historians to explore how the faith, ideas, events, and people of colonial America prepared the way for 1776.

Join the Declaration 250 event Sunday at 250Declaration.com—then make plans to continue the story with us in Williamsburg this October.
