Long before he entered the White House, Gerald Ford distinguished himself as a naval officer during World War II, surviving the deadly Typhoon Cobra in the Pacific before returning home to begin a career that spanned twenty-five years in Congress. When America entered one of its darkest constitutional crises, Ford’s steady character helped restore confidence in the office of the presidency.
