The Ship That Won the Beach

istory often celebrates famous generals, yet great victories depend upon countless faithful people whose names are seldom remembered.

USS LST 393 was one of more than a thousand Landing Ship Tanks built during World War II to carry troops, tanks, and equipment directly onto hostile beaches. She participated in the Normandy invasion on D-Day and earned three Battle Stars before returning home. Today she is one of only two surviving wartime LST’s in America.

Walking her massive decks and viewing all the wonderful artifacts reminds us that God often accomplishes great purposes through faithful service in difficult circumstances.
