Before Plymouth

efore Plymouth Rock, there was Cape Cod. After more than two harrowing months at sea, the Mayflower sighted land—not where her passengers intended to be, but on the sandy shores of Cape Cod. Here the Pilgrims first stepped ashore, explored an unfamiliar wilderness, encountered the native inhabitants, and began searching for a place to establish their new home.

We will travel to Provincetown and First Encounter Beach, retracing those first uncertain days and considering the remarkable chain of providences that eventually led them across Cape Cod Bay to Plymouth.

History looks different when you stand where it happened. The names become people, the dates become stories, and seemingly random events reveal the unmistakable hand of Providence.
