The Mayflower Compact
efore the Pilgrims ever stepped ashore, they faced a crisis. Blown far north of their intended destination, they found themselves outside the jurisdiction under which they expected to establish their colony. Some aboard the Mayflower suggested that once ashore, no government would have authority over them.
The Pilgrims answered with a covenant.
The Mayflower Compact bound its signers together into a “civil Body Politick” for the glory of God, the advancement of the Christian faith, and the establishment of just and equal laws. It was a small document with enormous consequences—government established by covenant and consent under God.

In Plymouth, we will examine the ideas behind that covenant and the biblical worldview from which they grew.
Join us for the Plymouth Pilgrim Tour November 16–21 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, as we remember the faith, sacrifice, and providence behind the Pilgrim story—and give thanks to the God who sustained them.
