Event Highlights

The Grand Canyon is one of the most amazing features on the planet, descending over a mile into the earth and as much as 18 miles in width. Join us on a 4-day raft trip with a Biblical Christian perspective!

This trip will encourage your faith as our guides reveal the truth of God’s creation found in this gigantic remnant of the Biblical Flood.

First class rafting adventure

Horseback riding, horseshoe pitching, skeet shooting, and other activities are available for our fun-filled day. In the evening, there is a teaching on the creationist’s view of Grand Canyon by Dr. Terry Mortenson, a boot stompin’ Western show, followed by stories of mountain men, Indians and an introduction of “manifest destiny” from a Christian viewpoint by Bill Potter.

Overnight accommodation options include sleeping in a Conestoga covered wagon, on the beautiful deck or in the lodge. The next morning, an exhilarating helicopter ride will whisk us to the Canyon floor where the lower 50 miles of Grand Canyon are explored for two and a half days. Finishing on Lake Mead, the last 40 miles are traveled by jet-boat to meet an air-conditioned motor coach for the return to Las Vegas, arriving by 6:00 PM on Tuesday, August 15.

Event Speakers

Jon Albert

Jon Albert became the Executive Director of Canyon Ministries in 2013 and is a member of the Canyon Ministry Board of Directors. Prior to that, Jon was the Sr. Pastor of a non-denominational church in Kimball, MN. Jon has been involved in outdoor ministry for twenty years, using God’s world to uphold what He told us in His Word. He brings his experience as a Pastor, youth leader, and schoolteacher to every trip, not to mention his passion for the creation message. With a Masters of Theology and Biblical Studies, Jon is a Biblical scholar in his own right. Jon has an infectious joy for life and the Lord, which impacts every trip he is on. He has this to say about leading a trip, “Spending time in the Grand Canyon is like being invited into the workshop of a master craftsman and listening as He displays and explains His work. Leading a trip in the Grand Canyon is like being the one who opens the door to the workshop and excitedly says, ‘Listen to the master.’”

Dr. Terry Mortenson

Dr. Terry Mortenson has an MDiv and a PhD in the history of geology and is well-informed on the relationship of the Grand Canyon, geology, and Scripture. After serving with Campus Crusade for Christ for 26 years (mostly in Eastern Europe), he joined the staff of Answers in Genesis in 2001 as a speaker, writer and researcher. A revised version of his PhD thesis was published as The Great Turning Point: The Church’s Catastrophic Mistake on Geology—Before Darwin. He also co-edited and contributed to Coming to Grips with Genesis: Biblical Authority and the Age of the Earth, which gives an in-depth biblical, historical, and theological defense of young-earth creation. Terry has lectured on creation and evolution in over 20 countries and has been on many trips through the Grand Canyon. Terry’s knowledge and passion for helping people see the connection between Biblical compromise and the age of the earth are obvious both in and out of the Grand Canyon. He says, “I know I’m a real creationist, because my wonderful wife, Margie, and I have eight kids and a growing number of grand-kids.” Terry is also an associate member of the Canyon Ministry Board of Directors.
