ritish Brigadier General Augustine Prevost led his British army up out of Georgia and into South Carolina, leaving a swath of death and destruction in its wake. Nearly a century later, Union General William T. Sherman’s infamous “March to the Sea” made Prevost’s venture appear tame. Prince William's Parish Church, later called Sheldon Church, lay smoldering after both campaigns. What was it about this church that caused it to be burned, rebuilt, and burned again? Join us in Charleston and hear the story at the hauntingly beautiful remains of Old Sheldon.
