A World Turned Upside Down

The narratives of American and World history have been consciously changed to reflect the depraved, Christ-hating, revolutionary agendas of the modern world. The same narratives are promoted by the educational systems, enforced by government fiat, and financed by corporate America. We continue to believe and teach that indeed, ideas have consequences, and words have objective meanings. We have seen the results of redefining marriage, heroism, gender, honor, and even Christianity itself. So we work hard to restore the right meaning and appreciation of that “cloud of witnesses” whose character we should admire and emulate, knowing the best of men are in need of redemption and the constancy of Divine grace.

To many of us it appears that the world has turned upside down. The profligate founder of Planned Parenthood and promoter of the eugenics movement, Margaret Sanger, is celebrated and honored as an oppressed heroic feminist of the 20th Century in Boston, Massachusetts museums. Such accolades for a modern Jezebel do not change the reality of history however—Sanger’s promotion of promiscuity, genocide of black people, and universal access to contraception remains condemned in Scripture for all time. The family still stands, Sanger is in her grave, and those who glorify her are still accountable before God for their own actions, including their teaching of history to the next generation.

On the other hand, men like President Herbert Hoover have been forgotten, except to be wrongly vilified for bringing about the Great Depression. While his political views may not be wholly acceptable to a more conservative view of the Constitution, Herbert Hoover, before becoming President in 1928, was singularly responsible for feeding millions of Europeans, especially in Belgium and France, in the midst of the First World War. Those millions would likely have starved to death without the heroic sacrifice of Hoover’s business empire and family fortune. The Quaker mining engineer never forgot his family’s Christian up-bringing and found himself, providentially, at the right place and the right time in history when he stepped up as a man and a humanitarian. Forebears such as him are worthy of our remembrance and emulation.

Tearing Down False Philosophies

The people elected or hired to protect our heritage—the art, statues, archives, literature, and homes of our past, are the very people destroying that heritage or supporting the mindless haters of the past who serve their purposes. They put forth that it was all evil from the start because it does not meet the presentists’ standards and emasculated definitions of “justice,” “equity,” “family,” or truth. Landmark Events historians stand against these destroyers and seek out the realities of the past, both good and bad, based on the eternal truths of Scripture and the rules of validating historical evidence.

Our goal is to help parents see through the modern fallacies and to train their children to “Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; and you will find rest for your souls” (Jeremiah 6:16). We want them to know their history, so that they will see the hand of God in His Creative and Providential control and guidance. What we do aids you in presenting a vision for their responsibility to have dominion over the created world, and all that that implies for “casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ” (II Corinthians 10:5). He is our King and He commands His people to expand His Realm. We of all people need to communicate that victorious vision, for we perish without it.

As we begin our tenth year of providing rigorous and enjoyable history tours at these treasured places that God used in the past, and in the present day, we reflect on the hundreds of testimonials to the importance of our task and the effectiveness of our teaching. God has given us a unique opportunity to help instruct the whole range of ages, all of whom are under relentless attack from our enemies. We take the long view—we are passing the knowledge of the past to the current generations of Christians who love God and love history. Perhaps the greatest differences between our Faith and that of God’s enemies, is, that we already know that Christ is victorious now and forever; therefore, we press on with a “holy confidence” that is powerful, contagious and world-changing.
