Battlefields & Belief:
Discover God’s Hand in Civil War History

Step into the past with Landmark Events’ unique symposium and two immersive tours—exploring the Civil War’s defining moments and their lasting impact. Choose from three unforgettable experiences in 2025, or soldier on through the entire campaign and do all three!

Our Clash in the Clouds Tour (July 17–19, Chattanooga) brings the 1863 Battle of Chickamauga to life, where 125,000 soldiers clashed, leaving 24,000 casualties. Led by historian Dr. Bill Potter, explore Lookout Mountain“s “Battle Above the Clouds,” ride the Missionary Ridge Local train, cruise the Tennessee River on a paddle–wheeler, and visit the Medal of Honor Heritage Center that honors soldiers including General Ulysses S. Grant. Confederate soldiers were not eligible as they were deemed “in rebellion.”

Ready to go in depth? The Civil War Symposium (September 1–4, Appomattox) will dive into the transformative power of providential history! Many of the issues that led to the War are still being wrestled with today, and the animosity generated North and South by 750,000 dead, thousands of widows, and post–war animosities have not been forgotten in the current ideological and theological wars to reinterpret and find meaning in the past. It’s complex, and we are attempting that deeper dive from an explicitly biblical framework. You should join us at Appomattox, Virginia for this series of lectures and discussion of the War.

The Shiloh Battlefield Tour (September 26–27) immerses you in the 1862 battle that reshaped the Civil War. Walk Shiloh’s 5,200 preserved acres with Bill Potter, visiting Shiloh Church, the Peach Orchard, and Corinth’s National Cemetery, where 2,300 soldiers rest. Discover stories of Nathan Bedford Forrest’s brilliance at Brices Crossroads and the sacrifices that echo today. An intimate hometown tour of Corinth by a new rising historian and a homemade fellowship supper rounds out a wonderful experience.
