The War on Truth
In his book, The War Against the Past, Frank Furedi warns:
“The very rise of identity politics is a by-product of society’s detachment from its past. In turn, the politicization of identity has run in parallel with the invention of a negative narrative of never-ending oppression in the past. Since the injustices of the past serve as a resource for establishing the moral authority of identity groups, grievance archaeologists are incentivized to constantly provide material for a gloomy version of history. The continuous serving up of the horrors of the past has the effect of lowering human ambition. In its place, humankind is condemned to a world whose history is endlessly recycled as a cautionary tale against the aspiration to exercise human subjectivity. In its most extreme form, humanity’s historical role becomes a self-loathing story of ecocide, with humans as the destroyers of all things good.”
The war on truth marches on, it seems, in every facet of life. The entirety of what was once Western academia, the interpretation of our beloved heritage sites, and even many of our churches have succumbed to the moneyed infiltration of this marxist taint with its rabid antipathy toward all things Christian. This past year has more clearly revealed that our media sources, once trusted by conservatives and liberals alike, are not just unreliable, but clearly and deeply corrupted. When even Tucker Carlson refers to atheist podcaster Daryl Cooper, as the “most important popular historian today,” while Cooper, along with a growing cadre of the woke right, attempt to redeem Hitler as some sort of Christian prince—you know we are in a full-blown information war. In her recent book, Shepherds for Sale, Meghan Basham detailed for us the corruption to be found in the Bible Belt’s oldest bulwark: the SBC. The blows continued with the loss of our brothers—giants of faith—John MacArthur, Charlie Kirk and Voddie Bauchum.

In this dire vacuum we at Landmark Events are determinedly working to raise up a new generation of Christian scholars, passionate and equipped with historical knowledge and storytelling abilities, able to transform any sphere with their love for the truth. We know that all historical research rests on the instructor’s basic theological assumptions, his presuppositions concerning truth: authority, morality, culture, the future, and other vital concerns. For the Christian, the infallible Holy Scriptures, which are all objectively true, provide the bedrock of belief for examining the past with a strong anchor of hope for our own future.

The Future of History
In the coming year as we continue the vital work of our Future of History Project, we will focus on the founding era. We are also creating two special tours commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in the cities that birthed this unprecedented document—Philadelphia and Boston. This intensive focus on the beginning of the American pageant of history provides the necessary foundation for teaching every era of our national past.
Thanks to generous contributions by faithful donors, this past year enabled our Future of History Project to grow steadily as students came from across the country to study historiography, biblical worldview, and the battle of ideas. Led by trusted Christian scholars such as Dr. Paul Jehle, Colonel John Eidsmoe, Dr. Bill Potter and Pastor Steve Wilkins, these symposiums gave students practical training in how to analyze museums, evaluate sources, challenge secular narratives, plan logistical schedules and recognize how historical interpretation shapes culture.

The recent national election granted us an incomprehensible mercy, one that is not to be squandered but used as a reprieve in which to press these principles back into every living application.
We have big dreams for raising an army of Christian Scholars to do just that. These past two years we focused on planting and cultivating, and by God’s grace, we have glimpsed the hopeful flower of early fruit: placing young historians in the field to practice their skills. Now is the season to water and feed what has been planted.

How can you help? By adopting the historical example of patronage, you can personally affect the fate of the West by funding these eager future historians and leaders. In our symposium they will be sharpened in the school of seasoned Christian historians to stand against the war on the past, the goal of which is the destruction of the remnant of Christian families and culture.
Those with vision see value in preserving our God given historical record. And thus we ask—please sow generously in Landmark Events.
