- Boston—August 3-7
- Christian Historical Interpretation
- One Dedicated Guide
- Time for Independent Exploration
ome with us as we showcase America’s 250th Anniversary in Boston, the heart of the fiery road to independence! From its outset, those who founded the Massachusetts Bay Colony and its capitol of Boston, were purposefully driven by the things of God. Established by heroes of religious liberty, motivated by their experience of persecution to leave their prosperous lives in England and plant themselves in the New World, they were, in the words of Cotton Mather, “a people of God, settled in those which were once the Devil’s territories.”
Their faithful vision and fearless devotion would result in Providences beyond even their bold imaginings. From Great Awakenings to Sons of Liberty, the history of this hardy colony can be traced through wars spiritual and physical. Their legacy is written in blood and sacrifice for us to reanimate and embrace as our own. It was Boston where the bold spark of liberty first ignited, then it spread wildly throughout the American colonies, fueled by long-nurtured ideals of Christian liberty found in the Magna Carta, the Westminster Confessions, the Mayflower Compact, and other religious texts.
It was their earnest desire to be “a city set upon a hill” knowing the eyes of the world would look to them as they established a paramount example of justice and charity. Join us as we rediscover the men and women of the American War for Independence who believed in this vision so deeply that they staked all they possessed on its success. Many of these brave souls gave their lives, others their fortunes, and still more endured permanent estrangement from close friends and family—all for an ideal that, in their time, hinged exclusively on their faith in Almighty God. Bring your children, bring your grandchildren, and stand with Dr. Bill Potter on the shores of Boston Harbor where defiant patriots dumped the tea in protest, and at Bunker Hill where outnumbered colonists proved their unbreakable resolve in the face of tyranny,—together we can make history live again!

Tuesday, August 4
Walk in the footsteps of patriots along Boston’s iconic Freedom Trail. We begin at the Old State House, where the drama of revolution unfolded and the Boston Massacre shocked the colonies. From Boston Common and the historic Granary Burying Ground—resting place of Adams, Hancock, and Revere—we continue to Old South Meeting House, where the Tea Party began. Stops include the Boston Massacre site, Faneuil Hall, the Paul Revere House, and Old North Church—“One if by land, two if by sea.” We conclude at Copp’s Hill Burying Ground, overlooking the harbor that shaped a nation’s destiny.
Walking Estimate: Approximately 2.5–3 miles total, spread throughout the day with frequent stops.
Wednesday, August 5
Lexington, Concord & Washington’s Command *(Private Coach Day)*
Today we journey by private coach into the Massachusetts countryside where the Revolution moved from protest to open conflict. At Lexington Green we stand where colonial militia faced British regulars on April 19, 1775. In Concord, we walk to Old North Bridge, where “the embattled farmers” answered the call to defend their liberties. Returning toward Boston, we visit Longfellow House–Washington’s Headquarters National Historic Site, where George Washington organized the Continental Army and directed the Siege of Boston. The evening is free to rest and reflect after a meaningful day at the opening battlefields of the American Revolution.
Walking Estimate: Approximately 1.5–2 miles total
Thursday, August 6
The Adams Legacy & The Siege of Boston *(Via MBTA + Short Shuttle)*
This morning we explore Adams National Historical Park, including the birthplaces of Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams. Here we discover the ideas, faith, and perseverance that shaped the early republic.
In the afternoon we turn to the decisive military chapter of 1776. At Dorchester Heights we stand where Washington placed artillery overlooking Boston, compelling the British evacuation. We then visit Castle Island, guarding the harbor approaches, to understand the strategic importance of Boston’s waterways during the Siege.
Walking Estimate: Approximately 1–1.5 miles total, mostly at Adams Park and light walking at Dorchester Heights and Castle Island.
Friday, August 7
Tea Party, Bunker Hill & Farewell Banquet *(Via MBTA “T”)*
Our final day begins at the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum, where interactive exhibits and costumed interpreters vividly recreate the dramatic protest of December 16, 1773 that galvanized colonial resistance. From there we travel to Charlestown to stand beneath the Bunker Hill Monument, commemorating the pivotal June 1775 battle that proved colonial forces could stand against the British Army. Nearby, we board the storied USS Constitution, the world’s oldest commissioned warship afloat and a powerful symbol of early American naval strength.
This evening we conclude at the historic Warren Tavern for our Farewell Banquet, celebrating together in a setting dating to 1780 and associated with George Washington and Paul Revere.
Walking Estimate: Approximately 1.5–2 miles total, depending on free-time exploration and walk to Warren Tavern.
